This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Backlash Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms. It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Modifications Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Experiences One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Necessary Adjustments Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
