'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the thrilling closing stages of Swansea's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles amid the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess quickly converted the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result capped an incredible comeback given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 during the second half. In the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right defensive wing after the team changed tactics. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the City players who paid tribute to the way Orient attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are very good but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in his new home. At the London club he reunited with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at League Two Salford City, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without much intensity. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the last several matches, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks a remarkable path for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was chilly," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I believed I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a minibus driven by team personnel, the transport team, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the next one to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on public transport after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
